General Curriculum

The New Zealand Covid Lockdown certainly highlighted the power of digital learning. Our teachers were able to access digital programmes quickly and continue teaching and learning.

Year 5/6 classes have been Bring Your Own Device since 2019 and this has resulted in children engaging in learning more enthusiastically.

This year we are focusing on Digital Technology which is about using technology to create.

Over the last couple of years we have worked with one of New Zealand's experts in maths teaching to enhance our maths programme. As a result we are experiencing much improved achievement results and children enjoying maths more

Our Commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi

At Pukete School we acknowledge the Treaty of Waitangi, and believe we should:

  • Encourage an acceptance of other cultures and their differences

  • Value each other’s heritage, culture and people

  • Reflect the nature of biculturalism in classroom activities

  • Develop links with our Marae

  • Seek to offer a range of options to parents of learners who ask for instruction in Te Reo Maori by growing and developing our Te Reo Maori teaching

E - Learning

At Pukete School we are well resourced for digital learning. All classes have screens that can be used for teaching, and sharing digital learning. Across the school we have a variety of devices available for learning including iPads, Apple TVs, laptops, Chromebooks, and desktop computers. These are integrated into classroom programmes as tools to extend learning, access information, and work collaboratively. The senior Ruru team is a BYOD (bring your own device) team. This provides another avenue for students to work at differentiated levels and with a degree of self-directed learning.
